How To Resolve Facebook's Checkpoint
On March 19, 2024, I found myself unable to use my Facebook account. I logged in to find the Facebook homepage replaced by this page. I tapped on the option to enable two-factor authentication but was redirected to a page with a broken link. The Learn More option was just as useless.
In this week’s blog post, I want to share with you:
What this is?
How to resolve this?
Amount of time it takes.
What this is?
This is the Facebook Security Checkpoint page. As I mentioned above, tapping on enable two-factor authentication redirects you to a page with a broken link and Learn More redirects you to the Facebook Help Center. You probably already know this, but it is worth mentioning that both of these options are useless. I still recommend trying to tap on enable two-factor authentication. Just don’t spend several months on the page with the expectation that God is going to command the page to change. Save your prayers for more important things in your life.
How do you know that it’s the Facebook Security Checkpoint page?
You will know that it’s the Facebook Security Checkpoint page. You have the Blue Shield that is blocking your account settings and if you are using the Facebook website, you will see a strange looking URL at the top that looks something like this: https://www.facebook.com/checkpoint/?next=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fsecurity%2F2fac%2Fsetup%2Fintro%2F. The link will contain your custom URL if you have one. You won’t be able to immediately tap on this link to follow its proceeding prompts.
Steps To Take?
First, do not go to forums like Quora or Reddit to ask for help on resolving this issue. There are plenty of hackers waiting for some poor unfortunate soul to post their sorrows in the forums. Those promises of resolving the issue if you allow the hacker to “hack your account” are fake. Those hackers telling you that they have already discovered the problem are also fake. It’s a trap to lure you into revealing your Facebook account information. Please think about what information is tied to your Facebook account: your real-life name, your date of birth, where you live and if you have an influencer account, there’s some other information that is tied to your Facebook account. You know what I’m talking about. That information that Facebook made you fill out those forms for. Yup, its stored on your Facebook account.
Go talk to Meta AI. I highly recommend talking to Meta AI because they can provide you with help from finding the problem to constructing an eye-catching email to send to Facebook.
Explore the Facebook Help Center. Facebook has an online encyclopedia that is filled with a variety of helpful information to help assist you with solving your problems. Now, as helpful as the Facebook Help Center is, it can be a challenge. Especially if you don’t know what the problem is that you are having. I suggest first analyzing the problem with Meta AI’s help. When you know what the real problem is, visit the Facebook Help Center to learn how to resolve the problem. Or you can return here to read how I was able to resolve it.
How To Resolve This?
Login to your account to start the Account Recovery. There are two things to keep in mind when starting the account recovery process:
You may have to wait a while before attempting account recovery. That’s okay. Simply wait a while and try again later. It may take several weeks or several months to successfully activate account recovery.
You can try account recovery 3 times every 72 hours. Read “Using Security Checkup to add security to your Facebook account” in the Facebook Help Center. Don’t worry about finding it, I have included the link in this post. Facebook Security Checkup. Tap on the option to Start Security Checkup.
What Happens Now?
When you tap on Start Security Checkup, you will begin going through several prompts. Make sure that you have your State ID and a letter with your current mailing address with you. Also, you may want to make sure that you are in a well-lit area for your Hollywood glam shot photo op.
Answer these prompts to confirm your identity, secure your password and answer questions related to your account’s security settings. Influencers, we have extra questions to answer. Just a heads up.
When you reach the question about two factor authentication, do not immediately proceed forward. Instead tap on Manage. You will be redirected to Facebook’s Security and Login Settings. Check to make sure that your security methods are correct and that you can easily use them in an emergency.
Save everything. No, seriously save everything!
Amount of time it takes.
Resolving Facebook Security Checkpoint generally takes between a few hours to a couple of months. How long it takes for Facebook Security Checkpoint to be resolved varies from person to person. My problem began March 5, 2024 and was solved August 30, 2024.
Why does this happen?
I’m not sure. My assumption is that this probably happens if you are a Facebook Influencer with a lot of traffic coming in. Facebook hasn’t given me a reason why this happened to me. I can only speculate.
Back Online. Now what?
You can message Facebook Support demanding answers for what happened to your account if you want. Besides that, let your fans knows that you are back online.
Can this information change in the future?
It’s the internet. Yes darling. My solution to resolving this ordeal may change for future generations. Or your situation may require a different solution than mines. Try it this way. If it doesn’t work out, try another option. And take breaks so you won’t get frustrated. Trust me. Taking breaks helps. A lot.
Final Words.
